What is the objective of the Let’s Build a Home Together project?
The primary objective of the project is to provide adequate housing for up to 202 Roma men, women and familieswho were relocated from the informal settlements in Belgrade.
However, in addition to construction of homes, the project should establish resettlement procedures and processes in line with the international human rights standards. It should also generate best practices in the domain of the right to adequate housing for Roma from informal settlements in Serbia that could be replicated throughout the country.
How long will this project last?
The implementation of the project started in February 2013 and will last for23 months.
Who is the project donor?
The European Union has allocated 3.6 million Euros for project activities. In addition, the City of Belgrade is providing the building land, equipped with utility network, it will provide urban planning documentation,technical documentation and issue permits and infrastructure connections to utility networks.
Who is implementing the project?
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the City of Belgrade, the Office of the High Commission for Human Rights (OHCHR), Danish Refugee Council, Housing Development Centre for Socially Vulnerable Groups, and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) are partnering to deliver the results of this project.
